The Stamford Medical Centre treats a number of conditions that may be considered cosmetic, but many of these conditions are acquired abnormalities, they can be very distressing or cause a great deal of anxiety, not to mention that often many of those affected spend much time and money on many different types of creams or ointments that are not effective for the condition.

Dyspigmentation disordes are broadly classified as the occurrence of pigment changes (most often Hyperpigmentation) usually on the face. Examples include Melasma which often occurs as a broad darkening over the face around the eyes or cheeks, even down to the chin areas, and other conditions leading to skin color changes (Nevus of Hori, Nevus of Ota). Some of these skin color changes occur from accumulated sun exposure and can be related to age, others can come on after pregnancy, others can occur from birth. Most of these conditions can be be greatly improved or even eliminated completely with the appropriate laser treatment.

The Stamford Medical Centre is very experienced with laser modalities (Fraxel and Fractional CO2 lasers) that can have dramatic improvements for those sufferring from severe to moderate Acne Scarring. Acne Scarring is a very serious condition that can lead to low self-esteem in a number of professional, personal, and/or social settings for those affected. Acne Scarring can often be greatly improved with the techniques and expertise available at the Stamford Medical Centre.

These same laser treatment interventions have been shown to give excellent results in reversing solar (sun) damaged and aged skin, giving a more youthful, tighter skin appearance, with reduction in the amount and degree of wrinkles and other features of accumulated sun damaged skin.

The Stamford Medical Centre routinely performs Botox treatments for various indications like crow’s feet, glabellar frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and other appearance concerns amenable to Botox treatment or to injectable soft tissue enhancers like Restylane.

The most important aspect to our care and in our approach to Aesthetic Medicine is appropriate counseling to our patients, and education about the proceudre. We want all our patients to know in complete confidence what the expected benefits can or could be in any particular condition or individual’s case. At no time do we try to portray benefits that we do not feel are achievable. We photograph our patients extensively with advanced, very detailed digital photography in order to compare before-treatment appearance with after-treatment results. We know each patient’s appearance concerns are a serious matter. We maintain extremely high patient confidentiality.
